How do I find city codes?

City codes related to building construction, animal licensing, taxes, land development, traffic, engineering, and more are available on the city website.

How do I locate underground utilities on my property?

Before you dig underground, call Colorado 811 for Utility Locating Services to locate any dangerous wires and cables. Visit the Colorado Utility Locator website to learn more.

How do I pay my utility bill?

Commerce City does not manage telephone service, water, sewer, electricity, gas, cable, internet or television. For information regarding these services, please visit our Utilities page. (This list is for residents' convenience, but should not be considered a complete list of all services available in Commerce City.)

How do I recycle in Commerce City?

Trash and recycling services are provided to Commerce City residents at no additional cost for all single-family homes and duplexes in the city. All homes in the city should have two carts from Republic Services:

  • The blue bin with the black lid is your trash container
    • service is provided weekly
  • The blue bin with the light blue lid is your recycling container
    • service is provided every other week

How do I report a broken sewer line or water main break?

How do I report illegal dumping or graffiti?

Illegal Dumping

You can report illegal dumping by using the City’s Access C3 reporting tool.

Graffiti

The Code Enforcement Division coordinates free graffiti removal within the city. You can request graffiti removal from private or public property online.

How do I sign up for the Adopt-a-Street program?

Commerce City's Adopt-a-Street Program allows local families, businesses and community groups to perform a valuable community service by adopting a section of a Commerce City street to keep it clear of litter and debris. Learn more and apply online at the Adopt-a-Street Program page.

I missed my trash or recycling pickup. What do I do?

Republic Services is the city's trash and recycling provider. If your home was missed during your regular weekly pickup, please contact Republic Services directly at 303-286-1200 or visit Republic Services Waste Disposal & Trash Pickup page.

Where can I dispose of yard waste?

Residents can dispose of compostable yard waste at A1 Organics Commerce City (9109 Monaco Street, Henderson, CO). There are several free events during the year where residents can drop off yard waste at no cost. Check the calendar for upcoming yard waste disposal events.

Where can I find home repair assistance?

Commerce City receives federal funding for community projects that benefit low to moderate-income residents through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. There are currently three home repair programs available:

  • Minor Home Repair Program (MHRP)
  • Arapahoe County Weatherization Program (AC WX)
  • Paint-a-Thon Program (PAT)

Where can I recycle unwanted electronics?

For a small fee, residents can discard unwanted electronics that are not accepted in your regular garbage. From TVs and computers to rechargeable batteries and microwaves, Adams County and the City of Thornton offer two electronics recycling events a year.

Where do I take hard-to-recycle items such as mattresses, paint, or tires?

There are several recycling events available to residents throughout the year to properly dispose of these hard-to-recycle items for free.

Where do I take hazardous waste?

The city partners with Veolia several times a year to help residents dispose of household items that are not safe to discard in your regular trash (such as household cleaners, gasoline, pesticides, weed killer, rechargeable batteries, fire extinguishers, etc.) On these days, the standard $20/vehicle fee is waived and the per-pound disposal fee is only 92 cents per pound (down from the regular $1.25 per pound rate).

Where is our landfill, and how much is it to dump?

The Republic Services landfill, located at 19260 E. 88th Avenue, is open from Monday-Saturday, 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Call the landfill at 303-371-5115 for a list of rates. There are several free landfill dump days as part of the city's trash and recycling program. On one of these four free days per year, residents can dispose of large quantities of trash or oversized items for free.

Who do I contact about a code violation?

If you need to report a code violation, you can file a complaint with a Code Enforcement Officer online using the city's Ask C3 reporting tool. Code enforcement addresses nuisance concerns like junk, trash, weeds, and inoperable motor vehicles on private property.
