MyC3 Day of Service

Thank you for joining fellow residents, businesses, and community partners for Commerce City's annual MyC3 Day of Service, dedicated to making our community cleaner, greener, and more beautiful. To make this possible, volunteers work alongside city staff to complete a project that enhances public spaces while encouraging environmental stewardship and neighborhood pride. In 2026, volunteers helped create a new pollinator garden at Prairie Gateway Open Space.

What is MyC3?

The MyC3 Program connects residents, businesses, and community organizations with opportunities to improve neighborhoods and public spaces throughout Commerce City. Whether volunteering at community beautification projects, participating in neighborhood initiatives, or supporting city-led programs, MyC3 empowers everyone to make a positive difference. When we work together, we create safer neighborhoods, stronger connections and a community we're proud to call home.

What is a pollinator garden?

Flowers and plants.

Pollinator gardens provide habitat for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects that help support healthy ecosystems. Native plants require less water, provide food and shelter for wildlife, and create beautiful outdoor spaces for the community to enjoy. Together, volunteers will help create a landscape that benefits both people and nature.

Volunteer Opportunity

Volunteer registration was required, but no experience was necessary! Volunteers received instruction, tools, and supplies before beginning work. Participants assisted with one of four teams, reflecting the operational structure outlined in the project plan.

  • Site Preparation Team: Help prepare the planting beds by removing weeds, loosening soil, and getting the garden ready for planting.

  • Planting Team: Install native flowers, grasses, and pollinator-friendly plants following the garden design.

  • Mulch & Habitat Team: Spread mulch, install natural habitat features, and support watering efforts.

  • Education & Support Team: Welcome volunteers, assist with supplies, install educational signage, and help document the event through photography and outreach.
