Report a Crime

To report a crime in progress or in case of emergency, always call 911.

To report issues that do not require an immediate emergency response, call the Police Department's non-emergency number at 303-288-1535.

Online Crime Reporting

Community members can now conveniently report incidents that do not require immediate officer intervention or may be intended for insurance or documentation purposes. Online reporting also allows officers to focus their on-duty time on higher priority calls to provide better service to the community. Animal Control

Animal Control provides education to the community on animal care and responsible ownership. These specially trained officers respond to the following:

  • Animal bite complaints 
  • Requests for collecting surrendered pets 
  • Requests for picking up stray or deceased animals 
  • General animal complaints from citizens
  • Investigations of animal cruelty cases

Call 303-288-1535 for Animal Control issues. Call 911 in an emergency.

Impounded Animals

For questions about impounded pets, please contact the Adams County Animal Shelter at 303-288-3294. 

Report an Auto Crash

File your crash report online. If you are looking for information about a traffic crash or need a copy of a report, call 303-287-2844 or visit buycrash.lexisnexisrisk.com.

Red Light Ticket

The city uses a photo red light system to enhance safety at E. 60th Avenue and Vasquez Boulevard/US 85, which is one of the most dangerous intersections in the city. 

Pay your red light ticket online at ViolationInfo.com. You will need to provide the notice number and PIN number from the violation.

Report an Abandoned Vehicle

If the vehicle is located on a public street or roadway call 303-288-1535. If the vehicle is on private property submit a service request online. 

Commendations and Complaints

Commendations and complaints promote openness and transparency. This form is used to commend or lodge a complaint about individual officers only and it is not for general police department complaints. Please do not include sensitive information on this form.

Report Graffiti

The Code Enforcement Division coordinates free graffiti removal within the city, however, written consent(DOCX, 71KB) from the property owner is required or the property owner will be responsible for removal of the graffiti.

Lost and Found Property

If you find property, you can turn it into Commerce City property and evidence. If you have lost property, you can review the list of found items turned in to the Commerce City Police Department. All property is returned by appointment only. 

Unclaimed Property Notice: June 1-30, 2025

Notice is hereby given that the property listed below is being held by the Commerce City Police Department. If you believe that any of this property belongs to you, you must claim it within 30 days of the date of this notice. All property remaining unclaimed after 30 days will be disposed of in accordance with Sec.2-4202 of the Commerce City revised municipal code.
