Marijuana Licensing

On June 1, 2015, city council approved an ordinance repealing the temporary ban on retail marijuana allowing businesses to begin the process of obtaining a retail marijuana business license with the city beginning June 2, 2015.

There is a cap on the number of marijuana stores allowed in Area 1 and Area 2(PDF, 148KB). No new medical retail store or recreational retail store licenses will be issued until the number of businesses in each area is fewer than four (4). Co-located licenses count as one (1) license for the purpose of calculating the cap. This cap does not apply to other license types such as cultivations or product manufacturers. Currently, there is one (1) available retail store license available in Area 2.

New Licensing Program

The city has adopted a new licensing program for both medical and retail marijuana businesses and amended its land development, building, and fire codes to support safe and thoughtful marijuana regulation. To operate legally, marijuana businesses will need to follow the city’s regulations as well as those of the state.
