Overview

The Workforce Advisory Committee (WFAC) will provide recommendations to City Council on policies, procedures, and standards to improve workforce quality outcomes in an equitable manner within Commerce City. The committee will be a temporary city commission, to meet for two years, designed to engage cross-sector partners, strengthen local talent pipelines, and advance strategic workforce alignment.

Establishment

The Workforce Advisory Committee (WFAC) was established by Resolution 2026-048

 


Key Functions

The overarching mission of the Advisory Committee is to help Commerce City build a future-ready economy, one that prepares residents for good jobs, supports local businesses, and strengthens our long-term competitiveness as our community continues to grow

The committee will:

  • Provide recommendations to City Council, implementation of future policies, procedures, and standards to improve workforce quality outcomes in an equitable manner within Commerce City.
  • Advise the City Council, upon request, on meaningful methods and strategies to engage historically underrepresented and marginalized communities as it pertains to the formation of community wide workforce policy.
  • Attend scheduled stakeholder workshops and community wide meetings as designated committee representatives.
  • Help facilitate conversations with the community on the City’s efforts to address workforce concerns in the community and to receive input from the community.
  • Analyze data, and draft policy pertaining to workforce outcomes in the City.

Membership Structure

The WFAC will consist of 13 members, representing diverse backgrounds and sectors:

  • 2 K-12 education representatives
  • 2 higher education representatives
  • 3 nonprofit/chamber representatives
  • 2 national business representatives
  • 2 union and non-union trades representatives
  • 2 partner government representatives
