Residents will have a new opportunity to access free, fresh, locally grown produce this summer and fall thanks to a partnership between Commerce City's Community Well-Being Division, Adams County, and Nativity Lutheran Church.

Beginning June 23, the organizations will provide free boxes of locally sourced produce to community members through October. The distributions will take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. at Nativity Lutheran Church, located at 12500 E. 104th Ave. The program is designed to increase access to healthy foods while connecting residents with fresh produce grown in Colorado and the surrounding region. The food boxes are available to all residents, regardless of income.

"With the cost of living increasing and reductions in SNAP benefits, partnerships like this help the city bring valuable resources directly into our neighborhoods," said Paulina Ursua Garcia, Health & Food Equity Navigator. "Through collaboration with community partners, we are able to provide families and individuals with locally sourced, nutritious food while navigating changing landscapes.”

Registration is required for each distribution and opens approximately two weeks before each event. Residents can register by calling 720-769-1099 or emailing pgarcia@c3gov.com. For more information about the Community Well-Being Division efforts, visit c3gov.com/CWB.
