What does the team do?

The Community Well-Being team works in the field on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Walk-in hours are Mondays and Wednesdays.

The overall goal of Community Well-Being is helping our community through the process of providing resources. This is why Community Navigators do not engage in the removal of people from encampments, and they are not responsible for reporting encampments.

Referrals to the Community Well-Being team mainly come from the city’s police department, code enforcement division, and the Adams 14 School District. Services are also provided through connections made while out in the community.

Resources Provided by Community Navigators

The Community Navigator for homeless outreach assists members of the community experiencing homelessness by connecting them to the appropriate resources.

The Community Navigator for families and seniors provides anyone in the Commerce City community individualized services/meetings for those who are at-risk of losing their homes.

The Education & Employment Navigator supports our Workforce Pathway Program to connect community members with opportunities eliminating barriers to education and career training.

Guided Nature Walk

Saturday, April 4
10 - 11:30 a.m.
Prairie Gateway Open Space.

Kick off Earth Month in April by connecting with nature at a special guided walk hosted by Commerce City. Community members of all ages are invited to join staff from the city’s Community Well-Being Division, Energy, Equity, and the Environment Division, and Park Rangers for a relaxing and educational morning outdoors.

During the walk, participants will explore the natural beauty of Prairie Gateway Open Space while learning about the important connection between access to green space and mental well-being. Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and support overall health, and this event offers a chance to experience those benefits right here in Commerce City.

City staff and Park Rangers will guide attendees along the trails, share insights about the local landscape and wildlife, and highlight ways residents can take advantage of Commerce City’s parks, trails, and open spaces throughout the year. This family-friendly event is free and open to all ages. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
