Commerce City Detectives Arrest Pair of Prolific Business Burglars

COMMERCE CITY, CO, February 18th, 2026: The Commerce City Police Department’s Investigations Unit arrested two suspects Friday, February 13th, who have been targeting and terrorizing Hispanic businesses across the Denver-metro area.

The two individuals are suspected in six business burglaries in Commerce City alone but are the suspects in nearly three dozen burglaries statewide in which they’ve stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash.

The burglaries began at the end of November 2025 and occurred as recently as this month.  Detectives believe the thieves were using stolen vehicles to get to the predominantly Hispanic-owned businesses and then prying or ramming the doors to gain entry.  They stole safes, broke into ATMs, and in one case even tampered with laundry machines to access the money inside them.

Detectives also recovered two firearms when they made the arrests Friday with the assistance of the Denver Police Department’s SWAT Team as well as the Aurora Police Department.

A full list of charges and additional arrests are forthcoming.

We hope our business community finds some relief in knowing that the individuals responsible for these high-dollar thefts have been taken into custody after an exhaustive investigation in conjunction with a number of other jurisdictions.
