Community Development services have officially moved

The city’s Community Development Department has relocated from the Commerce City Civic Center to the sixth floor of the South Platte Crossing building, located at the corner of E. 72nd Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. The new offices opened for in-person services on Wednesday, May 7. The city hopes this new location will better serve residents and businesses as city services continue to expand with our growing community.

The department includes the Planning, Building Safety, Code Enforcement, and Engineering divisions, as well as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. Previously operating out of the Civic Center at 7887 E. 60th Ave., the department recently moved to the South Platte Crossing tower, where the city’s Community Well-Being team already operates on the fifth floor.

Community Development provides essential services such as building permits, abatement hearings, development planning, engineering support, and community improvement projects funded through the CDBG program. The move will help streamline those services, enhance accessibility for residents, and free up space for other operations at the Civic Center.
