With low temperatures near zero degrees anticipated this weekend, Commerce City's Eagle Pointe Recreation Center will act as an overnight warming shelter for those in need of refuge from the cold. The warming shelter space will be available from Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. until Monday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. (Closure extended due to lingering cold temperatures Sunday night.)

Eagle Pointe Recreation Center location:
6060 E. Parkway Dr.
Commerce City, Colorado 80022

The recreation center will continue to operate for regular hours throughout the weekend.

Eagle Pointe's community rooms will provide seating and tables during the day. At night, the rooms will switch over to cots. Those staying overnight will be required to enter the shelter by 10 p.m. each night. Re-entry for anyone who has left the building will not be permitted until 8 a.m. the following morning. Light refreshments will be available.

Please be aware of the following guidelines for using the Eagle Pointe warming shelter:

  • If you need to use the shelter overnight, please arrive by 10 p.m.
  • During nighttime hours, the shelter's maximum capacity is 30 occupants. Once capacity is reached, Eagle Pointe may not be available to make space for more community members outside business hours.
  • There is no storage space available for personal belongings beyond a backpack or personal bag.
  • Pets are not allowed inside the recreation center. We encourage those with pets to seek other shelter options. If you have special circumstances, call the phone number below to ask about alternatives.
