Help Spread the Love to support local food banks

Each February since 2008, Commerce City's Spread the Love food drive has encouraged residents to donate peanut butter and jelly for local food banks. The period after the holiday season often finds food banks receiving fewer donations at a time when food assistance is in high demand. Commerce City residents have the opportunity to help bridge that seasonal gap this February with the Spread the Love food drive.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are high in protein and easy for kids to make without adult supervision, making Spread the Love an ideal way to donate and support our neighbors. The city distributes donations of these and other non-perishable goods to the Adams County Food Bank and the FISH of Commerce City Food Bank at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Donate jars of peanut butter and jelly throughout February at one of these drop-off locations:
•Commerce City Civic Center, 7887 E. 60th Ave.
•Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, 6060 E. Parkway Dr.
•Bison Ridge Recreation Center, 13905 E. 112th Ave.

Our “Cram the Cruiser” event with the Commerce City Police Department will also return this year, inviting residents to help fill city police vehicles with their food donations! Save the date for the Cram the Cruiser event on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and visit either King Soopers location in the city to buy canned goods and cram the cruiser with your donations!
