City Council Adopts New Land Development Code; Next Phase Begins 2026
Published on November 12, 2025
The City of Commerce City has officially adopted the new Land Development Code (LDC), with the new code taking effect on Monday, Nov. 10. Thank you to everyone who participated in the update process through meetings, workshops, surveys, and conversations over the past couple of years. Your input helped shape what this new code will look like in our community.
What’s next?
In early 2026, the city will begin a legislative rezoning effort to align existing properties with the new code. This will be another important phase that includes additional opportunities for public engagement and feedback. Staff anticipates presenting the rezoning strategy to City Council and Planning Commission during a joint study session on February 9, with community input opportunities to follow.
We will continue to share updates as the project moves forward so that residents, businesses, homeowners, and developers know what to expect during the transition. Learn more and stay informed at c3gov.com/LDC.
