Land Development Code rezone project kicks off with open house

Map of Commerce City

Following the adoption of the city’s revised 2025 Land Development Code last year, the city is now beginning a legislative rezoning process to develop a new zoning map for the city that will bring all properties under the new code and implement the Commerce City 2045 Comprehensive Plan. This legislative rezoning is necessary to officially update the city’s zoning map, so every property aligns with the new rules, which did not occur automatically when the code was adopted.

The first set of open houses will focus on the draft zoning map for the northern range, which may include updated zoning district names, revised land use standards, or new housing requirements. Additional open houses and engagement opportunities will be scheduled for other areas of the city in the coming months. Each meeting will begin with a 30-minute staff presentation, followed by a discussion period for attendees to ask questions and provide feedback.
