Belle Creek Closure

Updated Sept. 30, 2026

Current Status

Belle Creek Boulevard remains closed from Beeler Street to 112th Avenue until further notice. The closure follows a water line incident that caused damage beneath the roadway, including a sinkhole. The roadway will remain closed to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians while crews continue to investigate the situation and move forward with repairs.

At this time, there is no estimated reopening date.

What Residents Should Know:

  • Belle Creek Boulevard reopening Friday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.: Belle Creek Boulevard, from 109th Place/Beeler Street to 112th Avenue, reopened to motorists and pedestrians on Friday. All roadway, sidewalk, and shoulder repairs are complete! After completing paving and concrete repairs, crews inspected the work and confirmed the roadway was safe for motorists and pedestrians before reopening.
  • Sept. 30 Update: The waterline repairs are now complete on Belle Creek Boulevard; construction is set to begin Thursday, Oct. 1 to repair the roadway itself and surrounding infrastructure.
    • Timeline: Approximately three weeks, weather and site conditions permitting
      • Roadway: Asphalt repairs
      • Sidewalk: Concrete repairs
      • ADA access: Ramp improvements
  • Sept. 11 update: Water line repairs are anticipated to resume on Monday, Sept. 14. To overcome saturated soils, the contractors will be using flashfill which should aid stabilization issues. In regard to coring results, the Geotech company completed 17 locations along Belle Creek Boulevard. Preliminary results show disturbance from the water line break for up to five feet in depth and for a length of approximately 125 feet.  Recommendations from the Geotech company are expected next week on how best to remediate the issue.
  • Sept. 10 update: Contractor has begun repair of water line. The excavation has found highly saturated soil which is creating compaction difficulties and is delaying completion of repair until the soil can either be dried out or replaced. Geotechnical contractor is drilling cores to determine extent of roadway damage. Coring should be completed this week with reports from the engineer early next week.
  • Sept. 3 update: Waterline repairs and underground operations are now scheduled to begin Tuesday, Sept. 8, due to unforeseen permitting and licensing complications. The anticipated reopening timeline remains unchanged, with the area expected to be fully repaired and reopened within four weeks.
  • The roadway has continued to deteriorate since the original waterline incident. For everyone’s safety, please continue to avoid Belle Creek Boulevard. The area remains an active construction zone and is not safe for motorists or pedestrians.
  • The city will share additional updates as information becomes available.

Monday, Aug. 24, 3:54 p.m. - Update

Belle Creek Boulevard remains closed for safety while the city and SACWSD finalize plans for waterline and roadway repairs. Contract discussions are underway, with waterline work tentatively expected to begin later this week, followed by geotechnical sampling to determine roadway stability and overall condition.

Please be advised that significant water has undermined the road and sidewalk base, meaning the surface may look stable but is not safe for driving or walking. Because some barricades have been moved by pedestrians, the city is adding hydro barrels to strengthen traffic control. Please do not move any traffic control devices or enter the closure—doing so creates a serious hazard. We’ll continue to share updates as work progresses.
