Are you interested in learning how your local government works? The Commerce City Civic Academy is now accepting applications for its 2026 cohort! This free, eight-week program offers residents a unique, behind-the-scenes look at how the city operates and how decisions are made.

Participants will meet city staff, tour facilities, and explore key topics such as public safety, infrastructure, budgeting, and community development. The program is designed to build stronger connections between residents and their local government, encourage civic engagement, and inspire future community leaders.

Program details:
•The academy is free and open to Commerce City residents 18 years or older or individuals employed at a business located in the city.
•Participants may not run for local political office while enrolled.
•Classes begin Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, and continue every Wednesday through March 25, from 6–8 p.m.
•Attendance is required for at least seven of the eight sessions to graduate.
•A graduation celebration with City Council will take place on Monday, March 30.
