Commerce City has four City Council seats on the ballot in the 2025 election, including the Ward I and Ward III representatives and two At-Large positions (all seats will serve a four-year term). Residents who are interested in running for a seat on the City Council can begin the process by picking up nomination petitions starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the City Clerk’s Office at the Civic Center, 7887 E. 60th Ave. Completed nomination petitions must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 25.
To help inform prospective candidates, the city will host a candidate information session on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. While attendance is not required, this session offers valuable insight into the municipal election process and the role of elected officials in Commerce City’s government.
