City streamlines permitting and review for residents and businesses

Commerce City is rolling out improved processes for permitting and development review that will help projects move forward more efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards. For residents, the changes will streamline the process for home improvements needing a building permit. For commercial development, the city hopes quicker review timelines will help encourage more stores, restaurants, and other amenities to locate in our community.  

Projects such as home additions, basement finishes, decks, garages, and other residential improvements often require permits from the city’s Building Safety Division to ensure work meets building codes and safety standards. The updated process supports faster and more predictable review timelines, helping residents move forward with home improvement projects sooner.
