CDOT seeking resident feedback on I-270 improvement plans
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) invites Commerce City residents to review and provide input on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and State Reports for the Interstate 270 Corridor Improvements project. These documents evaluate preferred alternatives to improve safety, mobility, and conditions along the six-mile segment of I-270 between I-25 and I-70, while also including analyses on subjects such as greenhouse gas emissions and disproportionately impacted communities.
The identified preferred alternative consists of two general-purpose lanes and one new express lane that accommodates transit in each direction. Benefits of this design include improved safety, travel time reliability, improved transit and freight operations, and community enhancements.
The public comment period is open through Jan. 20, and there are several ways to review these documents and provide input. Visit codot.gov/project/studies/i270study to review the documents and find details on how to comment.
Open house public meetings will take place at Adams City High School, 7200 Quebec Pkwy, on:
Thursday, Jan. 8, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon
Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m.
These meetings will feature bilingual display boards and a brief presentation. Refreshments and childcare will be provided, along with Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation.
Online informational webinars will also take place Wednesday, Jan. 7, and Thursday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 6 p.m. Completion of the I-270 environmental study is expected in fall 2026.
