Commerce City facilities will have a series of holiday-related closures during the week of New Year’s.
Published on December 31, 2025
Telluride Street will be closed south of E. 96th Avenue beginning Jan. 5, 2026, for approximately one month to support critical water infrastructure and pedestrian improvements associated with the E. 96th Avenue widening project.
A detour will be in place via Landmark Drive and E. 94th Way. Additional traffic control will be in place at 96th and Landmark to increase safety in the affected area, and pedestrian access will be maintained in the closure area along 96th Avenue. To reduce congestion and construction-related delays, drivers are encouraged to avoid E. 96th Avenue and use alternate routes. Access to residential areas south of E. 96th Avenue is recommended via Tower Road and E. 88th Avenue.
As part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades, this closure will accommodate installation of a 36-inch water main crossing and Phase I of the pedestrian underpass. Motorists should plan extra travel time and follow posted signage. The city appreciates the community’s patience as these improvements move forward.
