Why are you running for council?

I am re-running for Commerce City, city council Ward 2 to continue to serve the residents of Commerce City. I want to continue to empower, enhance, and enrich the residents' lives of Commerce City. I will continue to unite all of Commerce City. The residents of Commerce City are fantastic people and I am honored to work and advocate on their behalf.

What do you see as the three biggest opportunities for Commerce City?

  1. Commerce City holds a unique location in the region with great possibilities for residential and commercial growth. Commerce City is centrally located in the region, which makes it attractive to those looking for a place to live and to those looking to start or grow a business.
  2. The Greyhound Park development and growth is another opportunity for Commerce City. It’s exciting to witness the new homes being built and other related developments.
  3. The area around 72nd RTD train station is an opportunity for Commerce City to capitalize on Urban Renewal Authority partnerships with Adams County.

What do you see as the three biggest challenges facing the city?

  1. Being a family nurse practitioner, the highest priority for me if re-elected is seniors.
  2. Affordable housing – with the cost of homes rising, ensuring there continues to be affordable housing throughout Commerce City.
  3. Unfortunately, the number of unhoused people is growing everywhere and it is a growing challenge in Commerce City. I believe we, as city leaders, can work together to address this crisis in creative ways which will ensure that those experiencing homelessness are matched with permanent solutions. This will make our city a safe place for everyone.

What does a “Quality Community for a Lifetime” mean to you?

Having lived in Commerce City my entire life it’s exciting to experience a quality community for a lifetime. Quality community for a lifetime is a place where one can work, rest, play, feel safe and be comfortable. This also means feeling like there is a place where one can call home—a safe place where one is represented and served by the government and those elected to represent them.

What is your favorite aspect of the city?

My favorite aspect of the city is the diversity of the city. Commerce City is a multi-cultural community. Everyone lives together.
