Step 3: Construction & Inspection

After a permit is issued, construction can begin. However, during the course of construction, inspections by the city must be conducted. To find inspection results, go to eTRAKiT.

Building Inspections Requirements

  • The city-approved site-related plan, building plans and shop drawings must be on the jobsite and accessible to the inspector.
  • Permission to enter a yard must be posted on the front door, if necessary; the gate must be propped open; and no pets can be in the yard at the time of inspection.
  • Ladders, scaffolds and other equipment necessary to access construction must be provided to the inspector.
  • Electrical equipment must be open for inspections related to solar installations.
  • Learn about basic construction rules in the city.
  • Before you dig, you call Colorado 811 to mark underground utilities or submit a request online.

Scheduling a Building Inspection

  • It is the responsibility of the permit holder or contractor to notify the city when stages of construction are reached that require an inspection.
  • The deadline to schedule building-related inspections is 4 p.m. the business day prior to the day of the desired inspection date.
  • Schedule an inspection on eTRAKiT.
