Commerce City is introducing a new, convenient way for residents and visitors to enjoy the popular shelters at Pioneer and Veterans Memorial Parks. A free same-day shelter reservation system, known as "Share the Park," will go into effect on Tuesday, Sept. 16. This program aims to provide more equitable access to the city's high-demand park amenities.

Recognizing the immense popularity and high traffic at these two parks, the city is piloting this new, free reservation model. The ‘Share the Park’ system requires park users to reserve a park shelter for free on the day it is being used, for durations ranging from 30 minutes up to a maximum of four hours. This offers flexibility for smaller, spontaneous gatherings and encourages a shared community mindset, ensuring more people can enjoy park facilities. To reserve a shelter, simply scan the QR code on the sign at the picnic shelter site, or visit c3gov.com/Register to book a reservation using your ActiveNet account. You can also call 303-289-3789 to check availability or make a same-day reservation.

For those planning larger events or needing to secure a shelter in advance, the city will continue to offer its traditional advance shelter rental program. Shelters can be rented daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Advance rental fees are based on all-day use and vary depending on the shelter's size. City residents can rent a shelter for $75 to $105, while non-residents pay between $105 and $135. A $100 deposit and the full rental fee are due at the time of application submission, which must be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the rental date.

This new pilot program is part of Commerce City's ongoing commitment to providing well-maintained and accessible public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
