Commerce City Launches New Encampment Policy and Cleanup Resource
Published on October 13, 2025
In response to community feedback and questions about encampments, Commerce City has launched a new Encampment Policy and Cleanups webpage and informational video. The resource helps residents understand how the city addresses encampments safely, compassionately, and in compliance with local and state laws.
The webpage outlines the city’s coordinated approach among departments, including Community Well-Being, Police, Public Works, Code Enforcement, and Park Rangers. It also explains the city’s notice and cleanup process, how residents can report encampments, and how the city connects individuals experiencing homelessness with available services and support.
This initiative was developed in direct response to community input and reflects the city’s Strategic Plan goal of promoting public health and safety through transparent, collaborative, and responsive action.
