Virtual Meetings

City Council and some board and commission meetings are being held remotely using the Zoom  videoconferencing app as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regular city council meetings held virtually on the first and third Mondays of each month and do include public comment opportunities. Study sessions are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month, but there is no public comment during study sessions or special city council meetings.

While most board & commission meetings are canceled until further notice, some meetings are being held as needed and also include public comment. Check the city calendar often to see which meetings are occurring.

Members of the public can register in advance to comment live via Zoom or submit written comments before a meeting online or by mail. The deadline to submit written comments or register to comment live during a meeting is noon on the day of the meeting.*

How to Comment at Meetings

You can speak at the meeting or submit your comments in advance in a number of ways. All forms of comment hold the same weight. Registration to speak and/or advance submittal are required.

Written Comments (online or by mail)

Submit your comments in advance using the online form (links below). Comments will be part of the official meeting record, but may not be read aloud during the meeting. The deadline for the city to receive public comments is noon on the day of the meeting. Late submittals will not be accepted.

Live Zoom Meeting Participation/Comment (online or by phone)

Advance registration is required to participate in the live Zoom meeting (using a laptop, tablet or phone). Participants can join the meeting via audio only and must pre-register for security and orderly management of the electronic meeting. The deadline to register to speak is noon on the date of the meeting. Late registration will not be accepted.

    • Participants can register to comment once during citizen communication and/or once per agenda item.
    • Registered participants will be emailed the Zoom meeting link, ID, password, and/or call-in phone number by 3 p.m. on the day of the meeting. You should not share this information.

  • When it is your turn to speak, the moderator will call your name. Please pay attention and be ready to speak when your name is called. If you do not respond or are disconnected, you may miss your chance to comment.
    • When prompted, use the "raise your hand" option via the Zoom app or press *9 on your phone’s keypad to be recognized.
    • You will be granted audio rights when you are recognized. You should begin speaking immediately. Your audio will be muted when you conclude or if your time expires.
    • No video will be allowed at this time.
    • Council policies regarding public conduct at meetings apply.

How to Watch City Council Meetings

Members of the public are encouraged to watch city council meetings live online at or on CCTV Channel 8 (HD 881). A recording of the meeting is posted the next day online at and rebroadcast on CCTV Channel 8 (HD 881).

Board and Commission meetings are not being broadcast live at this time.
