City Manager Brian McBroom was appointed to his position in April 2012 after serving in an interim capacity for five months. As city manager, he serves as the chief administrator for Colorado’s 19th-largest city, overseeing a nearly $51 million budget.
A lifelong public servant, McBroom has been with Commerce City since 2007, serving as community development director and deputy city manager. Under his leadership, the city adopted its first comprehensive plan in nearly 25 years and completely re-wrote the city’s land development code. McBroom also reduced the size of the community development department during an economic recession, improving government efficiency without compromising resident services.
Prior to coming to Commerce City, McBroom served eight years as community development director for the City of Auburn Hills, Mich., managing the city’s planning, economic development, building and neighborhood services divisions.
As city manager, McBroom serves on the Board of Directors for the Metro North Chamber of Commerce and Adams County Economic Development Corporation.
A University of Michigan alumnus with a B.A. in Sociology and Urban Studies, he and his family reside in Commerce City.
