UPDATE: Officer Involved Shooting

14100 Block of East 104th Avenue

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (February 14, 2020) - The Adams County Critical Incident Team continues to investigate the officer involved shooting that occurred at 7:00 a.m. this morning.

The Commerce City Police Department received 911 calls just before 7:00 a.m. advising of shots fired in the area of the 11300 block of Iola St. The investigation revealed the male rammed his vehicle into a female victim’s vehicle. The male got out of his vehicle and fired at least one shot at the victim. She was able to escape the area in her vehicle. The suspect and victim had previously been involved in a relationship.

Officers were advised of the suspect’s vehicle description and located him in the area of E. 104th Ave. and Potomac St. Officers attempted to contact the vehicle and the suspect failed to yield. The suspect struck a vehicle in the 14100 block of East 104th Avenue. Multiple officers engaged the armed suspect. Shots were fired, the suspect was shot and life saving measures were attempted immediately. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No officers were injured.

The identity of the suspect and victim are not being released at this time. No further information will be released today.

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (February 14, 2020) - At approximately 07:00 am, Officers of the Commerce City Police Department were dispatched to the area of 113th Avenue and Iola Street reference multiple calls of shots being fired.

The Preliminary investigation revealed an adult male suspect left the area in a vehicle. Officers located the suspect and vehicle in the area of 104th Avenue and Potomac Street. Officers attempted to contact the vehicle and the suspect failed to yield. The suspect struck a vehicle in the 14100 block of East 104th Avenue.

Multiple officers engaged the armed suspect. Shots were fired, the suspect was shot and life saving measures were attempted immediately. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No officers were injured.

Per the Commerce City Police Departments Policy, the Adams County Critical Incident Team is conducting the investigation. East 104th Avenue is closed in both directions between Hwy. 2 and Chambers Rd. Traffic delays are likely in the area.
