Republic Services takes over trash and recycling program Jan. 2
Switch to your blue cans when the calendar turns to 2020
The start of the new year also means the beginning of Commerce City’s new curbside trash and recycling program with Republic Services. For residents of all single-family homes and duplexes within the city boundary, this means switching to your new, blue Republic Services trash and recycling cans starting Thursday, Jan. 2. All homes in the city’s program should have received the new cans sometime in December. Due to the New Year’s Day holiday, Wednesday through Friday routes have a one-day service delay during the first week of service from Republic Services, just like the previous program.
Waste Management service continues in the city through Tuesday, Dec. 31. Your green Waste Management trash and recycling cans should be picked up on your last service day of 2019. If your cans are not picked up by Dec. 31, you can leave them at the curb. Waste Management will return one more time between Jan. 1 and 7 to collect any remaining cans (likely on your normal service day).
Most residents in the city will have the same service day and recycling week with the new program, but about 2,000 residents in the city are seeing a change in their service day. The following neighborhoods will experience a service day change:
- Buffalo Highlands
- Eagle Creek
- The Villages at Buffalo Run (both East and West)
Residents whose service day is changing should have already received a mailed notification. A map of service day changes and much more information about the new program is available at c3gov.com/trash.
For questions about the program, please call the Republic Services customer service line at 303-286-1200.
We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience as the city works to integrate Republic Services into our community.
