Honor Veterans at Commerce City’s 55th Annual Memorial Day Parade
CEREMONY BEGINS AT 8:45 A.M. AT VETERANS MEMORIAL PARK
Colorado’s largest Memorial Day parade enters its 55th year of honoring veterans Monday, May 27, 2019. The 1.5-mile parade route kicks off at 9:30 a.m. at E. 64th Avenue and Newport Street, ending near the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center at 6060 E. Parkway Drive.
The family friendly, annual Memorial Day parade honors veterans for their service to the country. This year’s event will feature more than 70 military units, bands, floats, antique cars, dance groups, and horse entries.
Prior to the parade, the city will host a ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 6015 Forest Drive at 8:45 a.m. to honor the men and women who have died while serving our country with honor and valor. The ceremony will recognize this year’s grand marshal: U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Thad Harvey, a veteran of multiple combat tours in Afghanistan and more than 16 years of Army service. The ceremony will also honor the late Sergeant Major Archie Robinson. The parade gets underway immediately following the ceremony. The parade is held rain or shine. Parade participation and admission is free. More information and the route map is available at c3gov.com/parade.
