Commerce City seeking applicants for photography exhibition at recreation centers
Exhibition theme is "Historical Places in Commerce City”
The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council are seeking to host a new exhibition of loaned artwork inside Bison Ridge and Eagle Pointe Recreation Centers starting July of 2019. The art exhibition will feature photography from historical buildings and/or places in Commerce City. Suggested historical photo subjects may include: the Derby area, Dottie Bakke House, IXL Dairy, Krogh Fieldhouse, pet cemetery, skating rink, Reunion Barn, Murray Farm, fish or hog farms, train depot, fire department and trucks, dog track, Metropolitan State Bank, Suncor, Mills, Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, and Interstate 270. Prints can be up to 11x14 and should give viewers a unique point-of-view of what Commerce City used to look like.
Eligible applicants for this project are those who work and/or reside in Commerce City and have existing or new artwork for exhibition.
Applications are being accepted through 5 p.m., Friday, May 31.
The project selection schedule is as follows:
- May 31: Deadline for applications
- June 11: Artists notified
- July: Art installation
- TBD: Art reception/dedication
