UPDATE: 96th Avenue now open from Highway 2 to Tower Road
As of about 6 p.m. Thursday evening, E. 96th Avenue has reopened from Highway 2 to Tower Road. Thanks to the plow crews, police officers and others who worked to get the road clear! The traffic light at 96th and Highway 2 remained out as of Thursday evening, so please continue treating that intersection as a 4-way stop until the light is functioning again.
Avoid 96th Avenue east of Highway 2 until further notice
Portions of E. 96th Avenue are fully closed due to a jackknifed semi truck, and numerous stuck vehicles continue to cause issues all the way to Tower Road. Snow plows are working to clear snow and ice obstructions and help free stranded vehicles so they can be safely towed off the roadway. If you need to enter/exit the Fronterra Village neighborhood, please use Chambers Road and E. 104th Avenue instead of trying to use 96th.
The traffic light at Highway 2 and 96th Avenue is out as well, so please treat that intersection as a 4-way stop.
