Belle Creek signal work to impact 104th Avenue access, detour starts Nov. 26

Post Date:11/21/2018 3:50 PM
Road work to relocate the intersection of E. 104th Avenue and Belle Creek Boulevard is scheduled to start on Monday, November 26, requiring the traffic signal to be shut down and moved. As a result, left turn movements onto/off of eastbound E. 104th Avenue will not be available and detours will be required. Access to the intersection will remain open for vehicles turning right onto/off of westbound E. 104th Avenue.

The developer completing this work has informed the city that construction is expected to last about two weeks. Construction schedules are approximate and subject to change.

Suggested Detour Routes

Entering Belle Creek from eastbound E. 104th Avenue:

  •  Turn left on Brighton Road, right on E. 112th Avenue and right on Belle Creek Boulevard

Exiting Belle Creek

  • From northbound Belle Creek Boulevard, use E. 112th Avenue
  • Vehicles exiting to southbound Highway 85 can also use Longs Peak Drive

Relocating the intersection slightly to the west allows a complete, four-way intersection to be installed, creating access to the property being prepared for development on the south side of E. 104th Avenue. The site is expected to become a new commercial development likely to include retail, restaurants, etc.

Moving the signal also allows space for the eventual construction of an overpass carrying E. 104th Avenue over Highway 85 and the Union Pacific railroad tracks. That project is part of a future plan from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
