UPDATE: E. 52nd Avenue temporarily reopened; closes Monday for repairs
(Updated: 4:00 p.m., Aug. 10)
E. 52nd Avenue between Dahlia Street and Forest Street has reopened for the weekend as of about 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10. The street was closed through most of Friday after the failure of an underground drainage pipe created a hole in the roadway. An oversized metal plate has been placed over the damaged area to make it safe for traffic through the weekend.
Starting Monday, Aug. 13, this stretch of E. 52nd Avenue will close again as permanent repairs are completed. Repair work is expected to take at least two days, keeping the road closed through at least Tuesday. Drivers can use E. 48th Avenue to detour around the closure.
The city will provide an update when repairs are complete and the street is permanently reopened. Construction schedules are approximate and subject to change without notice.
