From Adams City High School’s Marching Band to Deja Blu, from the car show to Recycled Racers, and everything else in between, there was plenty to do and see for those people who attended the city’s first Prairie Days even Saturday, Sept. 23.
Among the organizations who endured the chilly, windy day were Adams County School District 14 and Buster the Bus, an educational and interactive tool that teaches children safety on the bus; greyhounds from Recycled Racers (the dogs stayed warm by wearing their sweaters); the Denver Zoo, which gave a presentation on prairie wildlife; and the Mad Scientist, who despite the cold temperatures, went on with his show using dry ice.
One of Commerce City Police Department’s K-9 teams also gave a demonstration.
Of the 25 entrees in the car show, the Best of Show went to Dave Howard and his black 1965 Mercury Comet. The Best of Show was voted on by the Prairie Days attendees.
Along with the Adams City High School Marching Band and Deja Blu, musical entertainment included the Adams City High School Mariachi Band, the Commerce City Youth Orchestra and the Commerce City Recreation Department / Hip Hop Teen Dancers.
