permits required by public works
All permits must be obtained in person from the Public Works Department located at 8602 Rosemary Street, Commerce City, CO 80022.

The following circumstances require permits from the Public Works Department:
| Development | When there is any change of use to a property including zoning and/or occupancy or construction of structures. | ||||
| Grading | Any disturbance of the earth on a property that would alter drainage, surface treatment, or elevation, including filling and excavation. Grading Plan Review Application |

When there is a need to close any part of the right-of-way. | ||||
| Street Cut/ Right-of-way |
When the roadway surface is disturbed for repair or installation of a facility or public improvement, including shoulders and sidewalks. | ||||
| Oversized/ Overweight and Longer Vehicle Combination |
When a vehicle exceeds legal size and/or weight limits as described below:

Right-of-way License is $75.00 annually

A Right-of-way Contractor’s License is not required if the applicant has a current Commerce City Class A, B, or C license on file with the Community Development Department. For information on Class A, B, or C licenses please call 303.289.3683.
All permits and licenses expire on the 31st of December of the year of issuance.
Proof of General Liability Insurance is required before issuance of any license or permit. Insurance coverage must be no less than $300,000.
