Sec. 4-7. Prohibited animals.
(a) Unlawful to keep exotic, dangerous animals. It is unlawful within the city for any person to possess, harbor, sell or in any other manner traffic in the following species of animals:
(1) All poisonous snakes and poisonous reptiles; and all nonpoisonous snakes with a length greater than six (6) feet;
(2) Gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, baboons and any other primates;
(3) Any species of feline other than ordinary domesticated house cats;
(4) Bears of any species;
(5) Raccoons, porcupines, skunks, badgers or other like species;
(6) Foxes, wolves, coyotes or other species of canines other than dogs.
(b) Unlawful to keep Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs except with restrictions. It is unlawful for any person, except for a duly authorized agent or employee of the city acting in his official capacity in conformance with the duties and obligations of this chapter, to own, keep, possess, harbor or maintain any Vietnamese pot-bellied pig within the city except with the following restrictions:
(1) There cannot be a greater number than one (1) pig on any single parcel of property; and
(2) The pig must be domesticated; and
(3) The pig must not exceed seventy (70) pounds in weight; and
(4) The pig must be spayed or neutered before six (6) months of age; and
(5) The owner or person in possession of the pig must comply with Sections 4-46(d) and 4-47(d) of this Code.
This subsection (b) shall not apply to a farming operation zoned for agriculture purposes, a veterinarian hospital, an educational facility licensed by the State of Colorado or a commercial enterprise zoned for a pet shop.
(c) Unlawful to keep roosters and goats. It is unlawful for any person, except for a duly authorized agent or employee of the city acting in his official capacity in conformance with the duties and obligations of this chapter, to own, keep, possess, harbor or maintain any rooster or goat within the city except in areas zoned for such purpose.
