CALL TO ORDER

 

A study session of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Natale on June 23, 2008, at 6:30 p.m.

REPORTS

Good Morning Colorado will be at Pioneer Park on July 17th at 5:30 a.m.

Marketing Specialist Ross Hilker gave a quick update on Ask C3 and the link to the foreclosure hotline and the DIA hotline.

CURRENT AGENDA ITEMS

 

Rapids Soccer Academy Presentation Parks and Recreation Director Carolyn Keith gave an overview of the Colorado Rapids youth soccer program that will take over the City’s soccer program in the fall of 2008.

 

CASA Presentation Samone Jones, CASA Executive Director, gave an overview of the Court Appointed Children Advocate (CASA) volunteer program. A new Diligence Search program has begun that connects children turning 18 with a positive adult figure. Ms. Jones stated the program is in need of volunteers.  

Neighborhood Empowerment Program Update Community Development Director Brian McBroom gave an update on the Neighborhood Empowerment Program. The team is creating a toolbox to help empower neighborhoods.

Mayor’s Trip to China Presentation Mayor Paul Natale gave an overview of his trip to China for the UN Industrial Development Organization conference.

Review of Weed Regulations and Public Property Maintenance Neighborhood Services Manager Sheri Chavez reviewed the private property weed ordinance. Staff recommended making adjustments to the ordinance in relation to the size and type of property. Public Works Director Gregg Clements reviewed the public property right-of-way maintenance program. Street and Traffic Operations Manager Sam Hoover gave an overview of the revised weed mowing program.
