MINUTES STUDY SESSION OF COMMERCE CITY CITY COUNCIL May 12, 2008 CALL TO ORDER A study session of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Natale on May 12, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. Present: Mayor Natale, presiding Mayor Pro-Tem Drotar Councilman Benson Councilman McEldowney Councilman Jaquith Councilman Johnson Councilman Lewis Councilwoman Snyder Councilwoman Teter Excused: Staff Reporting: City Manager Jerry Flannery City Attorney Robert Gehler Public Works Director Gregg Clements Police Chief Phil Baca REPORTS Council requested staff look into placing the special event calendars in local businesses. Staff was thanked for getting the Highway 2 recycling area cleaned up. CURRENT AGENDA ITEMS Council amended the agenda to postpone the Non-agency Grant Discussion until June 9, 2008. 104th Avenue Jurisdiction Discussion. Public Works Director Gregg Clements and CDOT Region VI Transportation Director Randy Jensen presented a funding proposal for improvements on the 104th Avenue/State Highway 44 corridor. CDOT proposes abandoning the full-length of State Highway 44 to local jurisdictions and provide funding for agreed upon improvements. CDOT needs direction by the end of May to program funds. Discussion will be held at the May 19th Council meeting. ADCO Housing Authority. Adams County Housing Authority Director Don May reviewed the programs offered through his agency. Current and proposed lending and housing laws were discussed. Police Department Update. Police Chief Phil Baca gave an overview of the Police Department 2008 priorities, organizational chart, and current initiatives. Non-agency Grant Discussion - postponed CRM Update. Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Ross Hilker gave an update on the new Customer Relations Management program. The system is scheduled to go live on June 2, 2008.
