MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING OF COMMERCE CITY COUNCIL February 25, 2008 CALL TO ORDER A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Commerce City was called to order by Mayor Paul Natale on February 25, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. ROLL CALL Present: Mayor Natale, presiding, Mayor Pro-Tem Drotar Councilman Benson Councilman Jaquith Councilman Johnson Councilman McEldowney Councilman Lewis Councilwoman Snyder Councilwoman Teter EXECUTIVE SESSION: Council members Snyder and Drotar moved and seconded to go into executive session for a conference with the city attorney for the purpose of receiving legal advice in regard to Tri-State Transmission under C.R.S. 24-6-402(4)(b) and Section 4.24(b) of the Commerce City Home Rule Charter and for discussion of a personnel matter under CRS 24-6-042 (2)(f) and not involving: any specific employees who have requested discussion of the matter in open session; any member of this body or any elected official; the appointment of any person to fill an office of this body or of an elected official; or personnel policies that do not require the discussion of matters personal to particular employees VOICE VOTE: Unanimous; all present affirmed City Council reconvened to open session. Motion to Cancel March 10, 2008 meeting due to NLC Council members Johnson and Teter moved and seconded to cancel the March 10, 2008 Council meeting. VOICE VOTE: Unanimous; all present affirmed Ordinance 1716 Appropriation Ordinance recognizing Immigrant Integration Grant Community Relations Coordinator Jaime di Paulo reviewed Ordinance 1716 appropriating a $300,000 immigration integration grant. Council members McEldowney and Johnson moved and seconded to approve ordinance 1716. City Attorney Bob Gehler read the title of Ordinance 1716: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2008 BUDGET OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE CITY, COLORADO BY THE RECOGNITION OF THE COLORADO TRUST – IMMIGRANT INTEGRATION GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $75,000 FOR INTEGRATION OF IMMIGRANTS INTO THE COMMUNITY AND THE AUTHORIZATION OF THE EXPENDITURE THEREOF.
