North Metro Rail Line
The North Metro Rail Line is an 18.5-mile electric commuter rail line that will run from Denver Union Station through Commerce City, Thornton and Northglenn to North Adams County. With the development of the rail line Commerce City has a pivotal opportunity to create real change that will benefit current residents, cultivate a thriving multimodal center, and strengthen their standing in the greater metropolitan region

Voters approved the Regional Transportation District’s (RTD) FasTracks Program in 2004, which is the largest comprehensive transit expansion program in the nation. In November 2013, RTD selected a team for the design and construction of the entire North Metro Corridor commuter rail line which includes the E. 72nd Avenue Commuter Rail Station in Commerce City. Neighborhood improvements around completed FasTracks rail stations are beginning to take shape with new commercial development, diversified housing, infrastructure improvements, and neighborhood amenities.
 
Surrounding communities have capitalized on these traditional transit oriented development (TOD) investment as a means of advancing character- defining neighborhood improvements and innovative projects such as livework manufacturing and artist spaces, mixed-use and entertainment centers, neighborhood commercial infill, a variety of residential projects, and a range of open space and trail connections.
