Police Work
The most visible representatives of the police department are patrol and traffic officers, typically because they are first on the scene. But the Commerce City Police Department many public safety services to the community, including:
  • Investigations, which examines homicides, crime scenes, burglaries and robberies
  • Professional standards, which handles internal and administrative investigations
  • Records, which keeps all crime records and police reports
  • Specialty units, such as canine (K-9), animal control, special services, and crime prevention
  • Victim services, which provides assistance to victims of domestic and violent crime

Keeping the Community Safe
The police department uses geographic policing strategies and officers work 24/7 year round on a two-shift rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays. Staff is based at two locations, either the police department located at the civic center or the northern substation located at E. 104th and Tower Rd.
