An educated and skilled workforce is a crucial component for economic development and Commerce City is fortunate to be located in the Denver Metropolitan Area of Colorado.  
  • Colorado has the nation's second-most highly educated workforce.  
  • 39.5 percent of Metro Denver residents are college graduates
  • 89 percent have graduated from high school.
  • There are 11 four-year public and private colleges and universities with enrollments of nearly 150,000 located in the area.
  • Metro Denver's largest provider of workforce training and education services is its five, two-year public community colleges and more than 300 private occupational and technical schools.

Commerce City is served by two school districts:  Adams County 14 School District  serves the southern core of the City while School District 27J reaches the residents in the Northern Range.

In the Northern Range of Commerce City, 83.3 percent of the population over the age of 25 has graduated high school.  Nearly 60 percent of Commerce City’s population over the age of 25 has at least a high school diploma and many have post secondary degrees.
