Urban Renewal Authority (URA)
Commerce City Urban Renewal Authority logoThe Urban Renewal Authority of Commerce City works to identify and establish urban renewal areas within the city with the purpose of redeveloping slum and blighted areas. It is an authorized form of municipal government and is financed by the tax increment generated through its redevelopment projects.

Members

City council members, through virtue of holding their elected office, automatically sit as the governing board of directors with the mayor serving as the chair.

Additional members are as follows:

URA Executive Director: City Manager, Commerce City
URA General Legal Counsel: City Attorney, Commerce City
URA Treasurer: Director of Finance, Commerce City
URA Secretary: City Clerk, Commerce City

Past Successes

• City Plaza shopping center including King Soopers located at 62nd and Vasquez.

• Victory Crossing, located at 60th Avenue and Quebec Street, containing Dick’s Sporting Goods Park,   Civic Center, community and youth soccer fields.

• Infrastructure improvements at historic Derby District, 72nd Place and Monaco Street.

• Purchased Mile High Greyhound Park for mixed-use redevelopment.
