A business is only as good as its employees, and Commerce City offers a skilled, diverse, and rapidly growing workforce. More than 100,000 people are expected to make Commerce City their home in the next 20 years!

Existing Labor Force
Commerce City’s workforce is resilient. Recovering from the economic downturn, the city’s unemployment rate has improved significantly since its peak in 2010, making it the fastest reviving metro area in the State of Colorado.

Encouraging Commerce City businesses to hire local residents and contractors has been a primary focus for the city’s economic development division since 2010. Through its business incentive program, the city encourages businesses to hire locally by offering tax rebates for each new job that is created and filled by a city resident. Commerce City also offers additional incentives if city vendors/contractors are used for capital improvements.

Workforce Development
In 2012, the city created a Workforce Development Taskforce, bringing together business, education and development experts to specifically address the growing needs of our community.
