Geographic Policing
What is Geographic Policing?
As part of the vision of the Commerce City Police Department to be the standard of excellence for public safety and service in this region, the department has split the city into three zones and has designated a commander and a crime prevention officer to build stronger and effective relationships within the city.

This new focus has four main objectives:
  • Focus on crime prevention and reduction of crime.
  • Build and improve community relationships with residents and business owners.
  • Use data and analysis to identify crime trends to improve service delivery.
  • Reduce repeat calls of service by identifying and addressing crime trends.

Neighborhood Meetings
Are you concerned about speeding in your neighborhood? Barking dogs? Let us know! The Commerce City Police Department is hosting neighborhood meetings around the city to discuss quality of life concerns within the neighborhood, provide information about recent crimes in the area, discuss how community members can work together with the police department to reduce incidents and provide available resources to help address traumatic situations.

Each zone is conducting monthly meetings as follows:
Zone A: Interim Deputy Chief Clint Nichols

  • First Tuesday of each month at Alsup Elementary, 7101 Birch St., 6-7 p.m.

Zone B: Commander Charlie Schoepflin and CPO DJ Thompson

  • Second Wednesday of each month at the Recreation Center, 6060 E. Parkway Dr.

*Zone C meetings alternate locations between Stuart Middle School and the Belle Creek Recreation Center. Check the city’s calendar for possible updates to meetings.
