About the Project
Expanding Highway 2 from two to four lanes between E. 72nd and I-76 will help provide a higher level of service, improve safety, increase vehicle capacity, and accommodate pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles. The area on Highway 2 between E. 112th Avenue and I-76 is being expanded as part of the new recreation center project. Highway 2 widening project elements include:
  • Widen from two to four lanes
  • Dedicated bicycle lanes
  • Acceleration, deceleration, turn lanes
  • LED street lighting
  • In-pavement lighting/reflectors
  • Landscape improvements
  • Raised and landscaped median
