Tower-Peña traffic impacts this weekend
Road construction on the Tower-Peña ramps and widening project will bring traffic delays for drivers this weekend, specifically through the intersection of Tower Road and the eastbound Peña Boulevard off- and on-ramps at the south edge of the project.
Paving operations will cause minor impacts during daytime hours on Friday, but significant delays will occur at night from Sunday into Monday and Monday into Tuesday (roughly 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.) as fresh asphalt is laid through the intersection. This will result in lane shifts, areas of rough pavement and temporary traffic blockages – especially for vehicles exiting eastbound Peña Boulevard onto Tower Road.
Drivers on eastbound Peña Boulevard intending to exit on Tower Road are strongly encouraged to use the previous exit at E. 56th Avenue as an alternate route to avoid delays that could exceed 30 minutes. Delays should be much shorter for vehicles in the north and southbound through lanes of Tower Road as well as those turning onto the eastbound Peña on-ramp.
