E. 88th Avenue closure extended as railroad work continues
The current closure of E. 88th Avenue at the intersection with Highway 2 has been extended as crews from BNSF Railway continue repair work and installation of a second set of tracks at the crossing. Originally scheduled to re-open Tuesday, June 12, the road will remain closed until at least Thursday, June 14 and possibly until the end of the week.
Two alternate routes are recommended to help drivers detour around the closure:
- To the south: use Rosemary Street
- To the north: use Yosemite Street, Heinz Way and E. 96th Avenue
Drivers traveling through this area should expect delays and traffic backups during the work period. Electronic message boards are placed on key roads around the location to remind drivers and provide updated information about the closure. Construction schedules are approximate and subject to change without notice.
