The City of Commerce City and the Commerce City Cultural Council seek to commission public art for the soon to be remodeled Eagle Pointe Recreation located at 6060 Parkway Dr. as part of the voter-approved capital program. Qualifications are being accepted through 11:59 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 online through CaFÉ™ (

The Cultural Council’s art selection is recommending two sites for site-specific designed artwork:

  1. A free-standing sculpture at the entrance of the building or as a work of art that can be attached to an exterior wall or incorporated into the Eagle Pointe signage at the front entrance. The eagle theme may be interpreted literally representation or in a more abstract manner. The total public art budget for this piece is $25,000.
  2. A suspended artwork for the lobby area above the reception desk. The central suspended artwork may be supplemented with additional artwork in the reception area, including art elements to be attached to the area under the running track as well as the wall behind reception. The total project budget for this piece is $75,000.

The selected semi-finalists will work with the art selection committee to come up with exact locations of artwork, themes, preferred materials and the aesthetic nature of the artwork.

The art selection committee will review all complete applications. A short list of semi-finalists will be invited to prepare and present a design proposal. A finalist may be selected from the semi-finalists’ proposals and recommended to the Commerce City Cultural Council for approval.
