Introducing the city’s recreation centers: Bison Ridge and Eagle Pointe
It’s official: the city’s new recreation center has a name and the existing recreation center has a new name. Earlier this year, the city asked residents to help name the new facility (which opens next spring at E. 112th Avenue and Potomac Street) and rename the existing rec center at 6060 E. Parkway Dr.
Eagle Pointe Recreation Center was selected as the new name for the existing recreation center and Bison Ridge Recreation Center was selected as the name for the new recreation center. Both of these powerful and revered animals can be observed locally on the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge here in Commerce City.
Participants were asked to submit names around a theme, geographical area or in honor of an individual/organization. The city received nearly 500 online and paper entries for the contest. Shaun Thomas submitted the winning entry for Bison Ridge Recreation Center. The other winners below included portions of the winning names on their entry form. Winners will receive a family membership to the recreation centers and see their names included during a dedication ceremony next year.
Thanks to all who participated and congratulations to the winners:
