Joint statement from Adams County and the cities of Commerce City, Aurora, Brighton and Denver

DENVER (August 2, 2012) — Regional leaders including the Adams County Board of Commissioners and the Mayors of Aurora, Brighton, Commerce City and Denver met today to discuss the proposed Airport City concept at DIA and a regional Aerotropolis development. The group is working toward consensus regarding the mutual benefits associated with land use development as outlined in the 1988 Intergovernmental Agreement and will consider how new economic opportunities impact the original accord.

“We all want to see jobs for our communities and the region in the spirit of the IGA. We look forward to working collaboratively to ensure the economic benefits for the region can be achieved. We need to invest the time necessary to make sure this development is done right. During our discussions, we expect to focus on the planning, governance, transportation and financing issues relative to the IGA to create a new plan for the airport and the surrounding land that achieves our mutual goals and prosperity."
